One of man's basic needs is to fit-in the society he lives in. Being the social animal that he is, it is among the basic human needs that he needs acceptance from his peers. But when a person fits in the crowd, he is indistinguishable from the crowd. He is no longer an unique individual but becomes one among the multitude. Thus his very basic nature pulls him down from the path of greatness. The direct implication of this is every great man is one who has fought against this basic human need - and won.
